Colombia

Colombia is known for its high-quality emeralds. The country in South America is the most important locality for the green variety of beryl, followed by Zambia, Brazil and Russia. The Muzo emerald mine in Colombia is the source of some of the world’s best emeralds. Emeralds from Muzo are sometimes referred to as “old-mine.” Deep green emeralds from Colombia are preferable as an investment.
